21 June : Shuler has sent some interesting updates! -

8 Feb 2009 : First news of the year! Shuler is currently rehearsing Wozzeck for the Curtis Opera Theatre. The opera has 3 performances (13, 15 and 18 March) at the Kimmel Center, Philadelphia, and is billed as a "powerful, psychological thrill ride wrought with emotionally gripping music and drama that's sure to keep you on the edge of your seat" (wow!) - Buy your tickets here! He also plays a sheriff in upcoming movie After.Life, a psychological thriller filmed in the New York area and starring Liam Neeson and Christina Ricci. The film is scheduled for release in October 2009. A note of special interest - it also stars great young actor Justin Long, a regular in the Ed TV series which Shuler appeared in a few years back.
3 Nov 2008 : Next Monday, Shuler will take part in a public performance of the reading of a new drama, to be directed by Joanne Woodward. Entitled They Knew What They Wanted, the play was the basis of Frank Loesser's Most Happy Fella which Shuler has appeared in previously. More detail at Playbill and BroadwayWorld. 20 Oct : Good news for fans, friends and family in the UK - Shuler's episode of Law & Order : Special Victims Unit will soon get its first airing on terrestrial TV, and is currently on track to be shown Friday 14 November on FIVE. 6 Sept : Shuler is one of the hot favorites tipped to star in Paradise Found, an exciting new project heading to Broadway next year with renowned director/producer Hal Prince at the helm. Read all about the show at Playbill, BroadwayWorld, and (where it was originally scooped!) the New York Post. 9 Aug : Three great backstage photos of Shuler with his friend and pop hero Phil Collins can be found at Broadway.com 28 July : Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta today revealed a new 13-category student competition for excellence in high school musical theatre which is to be named after Shuler! Photos and story from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which has published some great interviews with Shuler over the years. 26 June : Teri Garr, who played Inga in the 1974 film of Young Frankenstein, put in a surprise visit to the show recently, presenting Bruce Glikas of Broadway.com with another wonderful photo op! The show's Inga, Sutton Foster, will leave the cast soon, as will Andrea Martin and Megan Mullally, to be replaced by Kelly Sullivan, Beth Leavel and Michele Ragusa respectively. Shuler and the other male leads all remain with the show. The Young Frankenstein TV special shown earlier this year (see News 9 February) will be repeated on NYC FOX 5 WNYW, 29 June at 5pm. 22 June : Shuler will again be taking part in the annual Broadway Barks charity event. The time 12 July, from 3:30 to 6:30 - the place Shubert Alley, NYC. 13 June : Keep an eye out for Shuler in a new T-mobile ad about the feuding Hatfields and McCoys (thanks Paul!) He's also in an ad for Lyrica (a fibromyalgia treatment) but I've not been able to find either on YouTube. 21 May : Shuler will be Seth Rudetsky's guest tomorrow night at the Broadway Chatterbox, and the good news is that you can listen to the interview afterwards on BroadwayWorld Radio. There was also a great article recently in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution : Shuler Hensley is a Scream in His Own Mansion. Results for both the Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk awards have been announced and Shuler has lost out to Danny Burstein (South Pacific) and Boyd Gaines (Gypsy) respectively, but huge congratulations to him on being nominated, it's the thought that counts!

9 Feb : Young Frankenstein will be Alive on TV tomorrow night at 7pm, when My9 WWOR airs a 1-hour YF special featuring interviews with the cast and showing Shuler being transformed into the Monster. Watch the very exciting preview here 3 Feb : Discover what Shuler loves about New York in this great new feature from Broadway.com. 28 Jan : Throughout this week, Shuler will talk on Playbill Radio's Center Stage program about the fun that he's had playing villains. This is an online program and the scheduling is : 7pm ET Tuesday 29 Jan, with the same program repeated at 2am & 11pm on Wednesday 30 Jan, 2pm Thursday 31 Jan, 11am Saturday 2 Feb, and 4pm Sunday 3 Feb. It also appears that edited versions of Center Stage are available as podcasts.
